Red Heron Farm is a family farm located in Elgin, Texas on the post-oak savannah. We specialize in serving our local community fresh vegetables, jellies, honey and chicken eggs.
We have setup an online store for the community to order eggs, jelly and honey for farm pickup at this time. Please see the above menu for our Shop.
At this time we have no produce available.
As always, we appreciate everyone’s support and commitment to local foods. Please continue to support the Elgin Farmers Market on Thursdays at 5 p.m. Beginning May 7, the market will be moving to Veteran’s Park across the street from its winter location at the Train Depot Museum.
Our attention has turned to the bees the last few weeks. We have been inspecting beehives and preparing new boxes. We are also feeding them a homemade syrup as there is no good nectar source for them currently. We feed them so their colony can remain robust, continue to build wax and feed themselves. A healthy colony means we can have a good honey production later in the season for us and them.
The picture above is beeswax rendered from some frames Angelica cleaned up. The wax still needs some more cleaning to be a pure golden yellow.
